If tickets of EU airlines become more expensive as a result of the EU’s environmental measures, would you consider flying with a non-EU airline or a different route instead?
While this may reduce emissions in one country, it will actually increase them in another. Can this so-called ‘carbon leakage’ and the competitive disadvantage for EU airlines be mitigated with a ‘Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism’ (CBAM) for aviation?
